Description
Sugata (姿, meaning «figure» or «presence») helps WordPress company sites output their organization information as accurate JSON-LD structured data (Schema.org) — content that search engines and AI search / LLM systems can read.
Sugata(姿)は、会社・企業サイトの情報を正確な JSON-LD 構造化データ(Schema.org)として出力する WordPress プラグインです。専任のWeb担当者がいない中小企業でも、迷わず設定できることを目指しています。
Many SEO plugins are either too complex or rely on automatic generation, which makes it surprisingly hard to express your own, company-specific information correctly. Sugata focuses on «learn less, set up faster», so that even small businesses without a dedicated web person can configure the Organization schema without getting lost.
The result is a clear «presence» for your company in digital space — a form that search engines and AI can correctly understand as who this company is.
Structured data is infrastructure: it helps machines understand your site, but whether and how it appears in search results or AI answers is decided by Google and other services. Sugata’s job is to express your information correctly — what happens next is up to them.
Note: Sugata is aimed at companies in Japan, so the admin interface is shown in Japanese by default. As of 1.1.0 it is also available in English (and can be translated into other languages), based on your site’s language setting.

External services
This plugin includes the Freemius SDK (https://freemius.com), which handles licensing, updates for the Pro version, and optional usage sharing.
- What it is used for: license activation and update delivery for the Pro version, and (only if you opt in) sharing basic usage information with the plugin author.
- What is sent, and when: nothing is shared until you opt in or activate a license key. If you opt in (free version), Freemius receives your first and last name and email address, the plugin version and state (active / inactive / uninstalled), your WordPress and PHP versions, your site language, and your site URL — and, only if you allow it, the list of installed plugins and themes. If you activate a license key (Pro), Freemius receives the license key together with the same technical details (no additional personal data). After that, the data is synced at most once every 24 hours via WP-Cron, and only when something changed.
- How to stop: click «Opt Out» next to the plugin on the Plugins screen at any time.
- Terms of use: https://freemius.com/terms/ — Privacy policy: https://freemius.com/privacy/ — Data practices: https://freemius.com/privacy/data-practices/
The JSON-LD data you enter is stored in your own WordPress database and is never sent to Freemius.
Pro version: stored data, backups and deletion
The Pro version stores the contact points, locations, products (including links to their specification-sheet PDFs) and services you register, and the page assignments, in your own WordPress database (the options table, and the post meta of the pages you assign them to). While the Pro features are enabled by your license or trial, what you register is published on your pages as JSON-LD, which is public by design. Sugata itself does not send this data anywhere else; what is sent to Freemius for licensing is listed under «External services» and does not include it. Anything that copies the database (backup plugins, hosting backups, staging tools) will copy it too.
- Backups and copies. Before an import, Sugata saves a backup of the previous data; when you clear the data from «Recovery & data», it saves a copy. While the Pro version is active (regardless of the license state), copies are deleted automatically 30 days after they were made, and import backups 30 days after they were completed. Completed import backups beyond the newest 3 are also deleted after the next import or undo and by the daily run. A backup of an import that did not complete may be deleted one hour after it was made, when Sugata can verify that nothing would be lost. Deletion runs once a day and when an administrator opens the admin screens.
- While the Pro version is deactivated, replaced by the free version or uninstalled, nothing is deleted: the dates keep running, and anything past its date is deleted when an administrator first opens the admin screens after the Pro version is activated again.
- Leaving the Pro version. Deactivating or deleting the plugin does not remove the stored data, backups, copies or page assignments. To remove them, use «Sugata Recovery & data Delete all Pro data» before you leave. The Plugins screen also shows a «Before leaving Pro: review and delete Pro data» link next to the plugin (it opens the screen where you review the data and then delete it).
- If an old free version (before 1.3.0) is still installed but inactive, deleting it removes your company information settings. Update it first; the notice stays until you do.
- Exported files and raw downloads contain the phone numbers and email addresses you registered.
- Multilingual sites. With Polylang or WPML, page assignments are stored on the default-language page, and its translations use them. Tested with Polylang only. The WPML code follows its public API but has not been tested on a real site. WPML String Translation is not supported.
Known limitations of the automatic deletion: (i) If the server clock was slow by the retention period or more when a copy or backup was made, it may be deleted by the first run after the clock is corrected. (ii) If the Pro version stays deactivated beyond the retention period, copies and backups past their date are deleted at the first run after it is activated again; download what you want to keep before deactivating. (iii) If the clock was ahead when a copy was made, the copy stays correspondingly longer. (iv) If a run happens while the clock has briefly jumped into the future, copies and backups that are still within their period can be deleted together. (v) If another tool damages only the record of an import backup, that backup does not appear in the list and is deleted at the next run. (vi) A stored row larger than 2 MiB (which only other software can create) cannot be downloaded, cleared or deleted from the screens, and such a row’s import backup cannot be downloaded either and is deleted when its date passes; the Pro plugin includes a step-by-step recovery guide for you or your hosting company (the screen links to it).

FAQ
-
Can I leave fields other than the company name empty?
-
Yes. Only the company name (name) is required; everything else is optional. Empty fields are not included in the JSON-LD output, except that an empty Site URL or logo is filled in from your WordPress site’s URL and site logo / icon.
-
On which pages is the data output?
-
Organization and WebSite are output in the
<head>of the front page. Google recommends placing company information on the homepage (or a single page that describes the organization), so there is no need to include it on every page. -
Is the admin interface available in English?
-
Yes. As of 1.1.0, the interface source strings are English and Japanese is provided as a translation, so the admin screen is shown in English or Japanese depending on your site’s language. The plugin is fully translation-ready (text domain
sugata), so other languages can be added on translate.wordpress.org. -
Does Sugata replace Yoast SEO or Rank Math?
-
No. Sugata focuses only on Organization and WebSite JSON-LD for company sites and works alongside your existing SEO plugin. If another plugin already outputs the same Organization or WebSite schema, choose one source to avoid duplicate output.
-
Does Sugata help with LLMO (AI search / LLM optimization)?
-
Narrowly. Many «LLMO» tools bundle AI content generation, llms.txt, and broad AI-SEO features; Sugata doesn’t. It does one thing: accurate Organization and WebSite JSON-LD, so search engines and AI can recognize who your company is. For the full AI-SEO toolkit, look elsewhere.
-
Does structured data guarantee rich results or higher rankings?
-
No. Sugata outputs valid JSON-LD so that search engines and AI can understand your company information, but whether and how it appears in search results or AI answers is decided by Google and other services.
-
What schema types does Sugata support?
-
Organization and WebSite first. LocalBusiness and more detailed company profiles may be added based on feedback.
-
Is it free?
-
Yes. The basic Organization and WebSite JSON-LD output is free.
-
How do I report a bug or a security issue?
-
If you think something is a bug in Sugata, or you found a security issue, you can report it to sugata.plugin@gmail.com. Please do not post security details in the public forum. A reply or a fix is not guaranteed, and questions about how to use Sugata are not answered.

Changelog
1.3.0
- Added the Freemius SDK in preparation for the upcoming Pro version. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you opt in or activate a Pro license (see «External services»).
- When Site URL or logo is left empty, the output now falls back to your WordPress site URL and site logo / icon.
- Removed uninstall.php. Your settings are kept while the other edition (free / Pro) is still installed.
- Settings screen: added an extension point for the Pro plan card (no visible change in the free version).
1.2.5
- Added a Live Preview blueprint so visitors can try the plugin in the browser (WordPress Playground) from the plugin directory page, with sample company data pre-filled. No code changes.
1.2.4
- Documentation: added a Japanese-language paragraph to the description so Japanese-speaking users searching in Japanese (e.g. «構造化データ», «会社») can find the plugin. No code changes.
1.2.3
- Confirmed compatibility with WordPress 7.1 and updated «Tested up to». No code changes.
1.2.2
- Documentation: added an FAQ entry clarifying Sugata’s narrow, honest scope relative to broader «LLMO» (AI search / LLM optimization) tools. No code changes.
1.2.1
- Fixed: the Founding date field could accept and output non-existent dates (e.g. April 31) in the Organization JSON-LD; it is now validated against each month’s actual number of days (including leap years).
1.2.0
- Added a one-click Copy button to the JSON-LD preview.
- Added quick links to the Google Rich Results Test and the Schema.org Validator for your front page.
- Added a notice — plus a highlight on the commonly-overlapping fields (company name, logo, sameAs, WebSite) — when another SEO plugin (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress) is active and may also output Organization/WebSite schema, to help you avoid duplicate output.
1.1.3
- Improved discoverability: the plugin title now states its purpose (Organization JSON-LD schema for company sites), and the readme adds FAQ entries on working alongside SEO plugins, avoiding duplicate output, and rich-results expectations. No functional changes.
1.1.2
- Documentation: shortened the readme short description to fit WordPress.org’s 150-character limit (the previous one was being truncated), and added English-UI screenshots (the admin interface is available in English as of 1.1.0). No code changes.
1.1.1
- Documentation: updated the readme and FAQ to reflect that, after 1.1.0, the admin interface is available in English as well as Japanese (the previous «Japanese only» note and FAQ answer were outdated). No code changes.
1.1.0
- Internationalization: the plugin’s interface strings are now English in the source, with Japanese provided as a bundled translation (languages/sugata-ja.mo). Japanese (ja) sites are unaffected and still display in Japanese; other locales now fall back to English, and the plugin can be translated into any language on translate.wordpress.org.
1.0.2
- Revised the Japanese interface strings to follow the WordPress Japanese translation style guide (half-width parentheses with surrounding spaces, and half-width spaces between Latin words and Japanese text). No functional changes.
1.0.1
- Admin styles are now loaded as a proper stylesheet via wp_enqueue_style (assets/admin.css) instead of an inline
1.0.0
- First public release. Organization & WebSite JSON-LD with a friendly Japanese settings screen (corporate number, multiple social URLs, overseas-friendly address, @id linking, import from WordPress, honest copy, AI search / LLM positioning).
